This is the fence around PS 234, designed by Donna Dennis. This is the model for the fence PS 9 - and particularly Mrs. D'Avilar, the principal - would like to see around its own playground.

Playground model: Hudson River Park

Hudson River Park, located at 23rd Street and 11th Avenue in Manhattan, is an artsy, unusual playground to visit. My daughter loved the climbing toys but was scared of the odd, swing-like metal toys.

At this meeting, neighborhood parents met with Sandra D'Avilar, the PS 9 principal, to discuss supporting the school through raising funds to renovate the playground. We were joined by Letitia James, our City Councilwoman, and Chris Owens, a recent candidate for U.S. Congress. Two subcommittees were formed: one to envision what the new playground will look like; the other to come up with a strategic plan and begin raising funds. Both subcommittees were charged with coming up with a list of possible resources and a timeline before the end of the year.
